In the improvised concert/performance Concerto which undoubtedly requires extraordinary physical dexterity and virtuosity, Ivo Dimchev’s voice subtly travels between the extremes of affects, yet neither laughing nor crying, always remaining in a poetic liminality crafted by the artist and his musical collaborator Emilian Gatzov. Dimchev captivates the audience who feels prompted to ask, “Ivo, how many can you be?”
The public will remember the Bulgarian artist Ivo Dimchev who presented his radical solo Lili Handel as part of IstanbulREconnects Program organized in 2006 by Bimeras. Dimchev, who is the recipient of French Critics Best Performance of the Year Award in 2008 with Lili Handel, returns to iDANS with another powerful physical/vocal performance. Ivo Dimchev is a free-lance choreographer and performer from Bulgaria, with quite an individual style. His work is an inventive and colorful mixture of performance art, dance, theatre and music. He has been living mostly in Holland for the past two years. Despite his young age, he has authored more than 30 performances, and has received many international awards. Ivo Dimchev gives master classes in the National Theater Academy in Budapest and in the Royal Dance Conservatorium of Belgium in Antwerp. He is the founder and director of Humarts Foundation in Sofia, and organizes every year a national competition for contemporary choreography. Further Reading:
