Looking Forward

Looking Forward is a short film that investigates the reversing of movement and time. The experiment plays with the ways in which we perceive the notions/motions of backward and forward; past and future.

Film and video artist and photographer Roberta Marques offers a new perspective on the history of capturing movement in photography and film in this elegant collaboration with dancer Michael Schumacher. Looking Forward is a continuous video piece about the reversing of movement and time. It offers a deconstruction of time in the way we perceive it, and constructs a fantasy world. A man walks forward while the world around him functions backward; through a series of temporal lapses the spectator experiences reversals of time.
