Radiodance

Last winter Nina Gasteva went to Finland where she met Dutch playwright Robert Steijn. Robert Steijn had changed Nina's life. She became a Northern Reindeer. When Nina came back to Saint-Petersburg with her beautiful antlers, it was a big surprise for Michael Ivanov. Now because of that Michael listens to the music of Peter Tchaikovsky and reads Alexander Pushkin's poems. Sometimes he asks Nina: "What is it like to be a Reindeer?"

The performance was awarded with the "Upstream" award ("TSEKH" Dance Festival, Moscow, Russia, 2007).

Director: Nina Gasteva | Choreographer: Michael Ivanov | Performers: Michael Ivanov, Nina Gasteva | Music:Staging: Nina Gasteva | Costumes: Nina Gasteva | Muse: Robert Steijn | Texts: A.S. Pushkin, working group "Platform: Chto delat?" Tanya Kuznetsova and Nina Berberova P.I. Tchaikovsky |

IGUAN Dance Theater was created in October 1995. The impetus for the foundation of IGUAN grew from the combined dance performances of Nina Gasteva and Michail Ivanov in the celebrated nightclub of avant-garde music, "Tam-Tam."  This creative union was a unique all-Russian phenomenon in the alternative dance scene and attracted attention from its inception.  Ivanov and Gasteva are artists who are absolutely different by education, profession, and history of development, which gives birth to the unusual combination of plastic, dance, pantomime, and elements of dramatic and poetic action. In their productions they combine vivid humor and a deep philosophical look at life. Their performances are always in a continuous process of development, seeking more scenes and subjects. Their first performance in October 1995 was at the international festival "Virtual Reality" (Saint Petersburg).  Since then, IGUAN Dance Theater has been a consistent participant in international festivals of modern dance.  The company was nominated for a National Theatre Award at the "Golden Mask" Festival in 2000 and in 2005, Moscow, and was awarded the prize "Against the Mainstream " in 2007, Moscow.
